Queiroz Acclaims Ferguson Youth Policy

Posted by The Soccer Blogger as English Premiership

Well they’re all at it at Old Trafford in the last couple of days. First Gary Nelville had a go at Agents, then Sir Alex stated that the
FA Youth Academy
was failing the England National side and now his No. 1 Carlos Queiroz is, perhaps not unsurprisingly, backing his boss to the hilt hailing Ferguson’s youth policy as a master plan. Carlos obviously knows which side his bread is buttered! Sir Alex has a point though, I think.

Anyway, Queiroz claimed that United have reaped the benefits of their long term plan, laid down by Sr Alex over the last two years, to invest and be patient with their young talent, stating their current return to the top of the League is due to their faith in such players as Ronaldo and Rooney. Shame from The FA’s point of view that only one of them is English. Oh, and the other is good at getting Rooney sent off in World Cup games (wink wink ;-) !) and knocking England out.

Carlos stated, “You cannot perform at this level in a consistent way if these players are not mature and ready to compete,” he said.

“We knew sooner or later the results would come up if we kept going with patience, stability and continuity.”

He continued, “[The United resurgence is due to] continuity, daily work, being patient with mistakes, being on the right track, believing that if we trust them and if we provide them with the right preparation that sooner or later they grow up and they start to perform.

“And this is exactly what happened.”

There has been huge speculation recently the Ronaldo will leave Old Trafford in the summer. Several destinations have been rumoured, the main one being Spain and either one of the two giants, Real Madrid or Barcelona. Queiroz had stated earlier in the week, (and he would say this, wouldn’t he?) that there was absolutely no reason for Ronaldo to leave United. Well other than playing either Real or Barca, that is. I know United are a big club but playing for one of those two in your career has got to be attractive to a young player, especially a Latin player. Ok, he’s not Spanish but Portuguese but you know what I mean, still Latin. And if he does leave United you can bet anything that they won’t be selling him cheaply or to another English club, at any price! My money is on him actually staying for a little while longer.
