How To Dramatically Improve Your Soccer Fitness, Training & Skill Levels

Posted by The Soccer Blogger as Soccer Training & Skills

To help prepare you to play soccer at your optimum level we have identified 10 key areas, encompassing a “fitness regime” that you need to concentrate on. Over the first four parts of your eCourse we are going to deal with these 10 key areas, as follows:

  1. You are going to need to build up the strength and endurance of your muscles, particularly your leg muscles. You need to ensure that you will not tire out half way through the second half and find yourself bent over double with your hands on your knees panting because you can’t run another step without your lungs about to explode!
  2. With that in mind, you are going to need to improve your cardiovascular conditioning, making it easier for your body to get the oxygen it needs. Again this will help you to keep going and preventing you from becoming tired too quickly by getting more oxygen to those muscles.
  3. You are going to need to learn what foods to eat and more importantly, which foods you MUST NOT EAT. You have to decrease the fat content of your body, making it easier for you to increase your metabolism and get in shape. STAY OUT OF MCDONALDS. Or as a good friend of mine likes to say, “Put the ******* fork down!”
  4. You will need to eliminate all habits which are negatively affecting your health from your lifestyle. Like a beer every night? Too bad!
  5. You will have to establish a firm work-out routine that works all of your body’s systems to their maximum capabilities.
  6. As already mentioned, you will need to stop eating certain foods. Not only the ones you already know are bad for you but also those that are actually thought to be healthy for you but are in fact only serving to exert a negative effect on your body’s well being. I never said this was going to be easy! :-)
  7. Throughout the course of your fitness training you will discover that all of your body’s systems are interrelated, and why it is therefore essential that you discover how to achieve the best results from each one to help you to perform at your best when you get out on the pitch.
  8. Of course, there’s more to getting fit to play soccer than simply getting fit. You need to know how to play as well! We’ll give you a list of easy soccer related training and skill drills that will help you to become comfortable on the ball and with your role within the team.
  9. Sports related injuries are incredibly common and soccer is no different. In a sport like soccer, which focuses primarily on a single location on your body, you need to know a little on the subject of injuries, playing while injured and how to rehabilitate an injury to help you get out on the field as quickly as possible, and drum roll please…..finally
  10. You need to always remember why you take part in sport and that includes soccer. And the single most important part has to be because it is FUN. But here’s the kicker (no pun intended) the training, the fitness and the practice all have to be fun too! Which is why we are going to show you a couple of zany activities which will help you to get in shape whilst enjoying yourself at the same time. This is so important.

Oh, I forgot to mention, you are going to need no small amount of WILL POWER too! But it will be worth it.

Nice advice, really good! What I noticed is that you didn’t mention what types of food to eat. Essentially, if you want to become lean and reduce your body-fat percentage, you have to stay away from processed food (their the fat builders).
The best foods are the ones that you prepare fresh, they contain only the three essential nutrients (glucose, fat: glyderol+lipo-acids, and proteins: the building blocks of muscle and bone.) along with a couple of vitamins, fresh food does not contain those big complex chemicals that mess up your metabolism and health. Another thing, in order to lose pure-fat, you have to create a daily calorie deficit, which means burn more calories than you eat (this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t eat less, just exercise more.)
Also, what I noticed about professional soccer players is that they do not just have skills and fitness, they have soccer IQ. Their developped and high soccer IQ, means that they don’t have to think a second thought about their next action and they are natural at deeking people (they don’t choose the move, but observes the defendee’s body positioning and exposes it’s weakess point).
I could go on and on about this, but don’t have the space so check out this website I found to help you improve to the top!
