I play soccer n i need to get my stamina/fitness up?

Posted by The Soccer Blogger as Soccer Training & Skills

hey i play centremid/striker, i play centre mid more n its really tiring so have you got any good ideas to get my stamina/fitness up and also my speed?

thanks.

I play competitive soccer and i know what i'm talking about do not run distance as the other person said : soccer is not a game about just distance if it was cross country runners would be the best players, Go to your field run up and down left and right sprint for 60sec then jog slowly for 2min and repeat for 90min this will get your muscles used to making runs while building endurance, also run with parachutes will make you really tired but will get your acceleration way up, run ladders, suicides will also get you into good shape good luck.

run like 5 miles one day then the next do speed training which, for example, you could sprint 20yds and jog back to where you began. repeat about 5 times then take a break.

just a suggestion

To get fit, try some suicide runs. To help your core body, try push-ups (they help with your shoulders), and also hold a push-up half way for 1 min to help your mid section. For my fitness, at school, my mates and I play 3 a side street football every day, trust me, if you play properly, you will easily get fitter! Hope I'm Of Help.

There are many exercises that you can do to achieve an optimal fitness level. You should be weight lifting, speed training, plyometrics training as well as performing flexibility exercises. Weightlifting should consist of upper and lower body exercises to build muscle for explosive powers such as acceleration. Speed training consists of interval training, hill runs/stair runs exercises to improve overall speed. Plyometrics should consist of agility ladder, box, dot exercises to achieve explosiveness and faster movements. Flexibility is pretty straightforward, if you can't touch your toes, your not as fast as you could be.
