What are some good soccer drills and cleats for forwards?
Posted by The Soccer Blogger as Soccer Training & Skills
gotta stay in shape for next season(High School Soccer) and i dont want to lose my touch, parents dont have enough time to drive me to an indoor league practice and stuff so yea. need help please!
It depends on what kind of forward you are. If you enjoy taking a direct approach on goal, I would definitely suggest one of the newer Nike cleats, like the Lasers. I find Nike's very uncomfortable, but I have strange feet. If you take more shots than anything, I would suggest the cleats Beckham wears or the other new cleats in that line, such as Absolado and Predator. I am a forward though, and I think that the best overall cleats for forwards are the Puma v3.08's. They have good protection of the foot for laces and inside shots, yet they are not too heavy to run fast.
As for drills for high school, I would suggest four things.
1)Run. Make sure you mix it up with long jogs, quick miles, and sprints.
2)Shoot. Find a goal and fix lace shots and curving shots from different distances.
3)Dribble. Set up cones or even better practice with a friend and get better at dribbling past people.
4)Juggle. I always juggle when I get home from practice. It helps me relax, and you get a lot better at technical skills, such as pass reception, scoring off of crosses, and dribbling tricks.
