What are some of the best soccer drills to introduce to teach your kids?

Posted by The Soccer Blogger as Soccer Training & Skills

I have two kids and we all enjoy kicking the ball around but with my 4 year old daughter just starting soccer I forget what are the best drills to teach. (it's been many years since I played)
I don't want to be that overbearing parent that burns their kid out before 1st grade but I also want to at least help her advance while havingfun at it.

This is very simple and very useful. Go find a nice wall, kick the ball hard at it.
Now get your kids to learn to trap the rebound. Be it with the body, head or leg.
Because this is not easy to learn (trapping the ball), especially a high ball.

Once they can learn to trap a ball in mid-air and bring down to the feet, they have a very useful skill.

But for a 4 year old kid, just teach her basic things like throwing, running with the ball and simple styles of kicking (instep, outstep etc).

maybe you could do like races with the ball. dribbling between the cones, dribbling with just left or just the right foot, etc. just try to get the basics mastered and her skill level up but don't overwork her!!

they should have books about coaching at your library :]
